    After last year’s hurricane, I and my neighbor decided to purchase generators for our homes. We each got three prices. The high bid was thousands over the other two. My neighbor decided to take the lowest bid, but I decided to pay three hundred more to go with never dark. I felt confident after talking with Eddie as he was by far the most knowledgeable of the three, and their A rating with the better business bureau made me comfortable. They said about 2 weeks and it was 2 weeks and one day. The guys showed up at 9am and got to work like a well-oiled machine. They were so nice, professional, and courteous. They completed the job in 5 hours. It was up and running, they walked us through start up answering all our questions before we could even ask questions. Two days later the county building inspector came and said it all looked good. This was bar far the best experience we have ever had with a contractor working on our home. My neighbor on the other hand that hired the heating and AC and electrical contractor for $300 less wasn’t so lucky. He waited almost 2 months for his. Then it took them half the day just to get the generator in place, and 2 and half days for the wiring. They were actually reading the book. Come to find out one guy had done only 3 and the other guy it was his first one, and it didn’t look near as good as my installation. They didn’t even start it because they said he had to get a gas man to hook it up, they didn’t do that, and it wasn’t in their price. He had to pay someone else $600 for his gas. Then when he called them for startup they tried to hand him a bill, which he refused to pay. When he asked about his inspection they told him he didn’t need one. He called the county and they said a permit and inspection is required. Now they won’t even return his phone calls. I wrote this lengthy letter for Never dark so that hopefully who ever reads this will know what a fine company they are and you get what you pay for. I recommend Never Dark to anyone looking for a generator system.

  1. Just wanted everyone to know what a great job Never Dark did on our generator, and at the exact price quoted. No exta costs added on was a pleasant suprise in this day and age. They guys were professional and very polite. I recommend Never Dark to all my family and friends

    We had a Never Dark whole house generator in our previous home and just loved it. We sold the house recently and the generator, along with its top of the line installation, was a huge selling point in an ongoing difficult real estate market. Considering our recent severe storm damage and widespread power outages in the region, I’m sure the new owners are thrilled to have it. Needless to say, we’re on the list to have one installed in our new home!

    After debating the purchase for a year, we finally installed a generator in January and so glad we did; last week’s derecho initiated 70 hours of blissful, air-conditioned, whole-house enabled confirmation that NeverDark knows their stuff. Thank you!

    Two years ago we purchased a Never Dark Generator. During those two years the most we ever used the generator was six hours but after last week’s derecho that has has changed. Our power was out 115 hours. During that time we had cold AC, water, TV, Internet, and NO SPOILED FOOD to throw out. If you are debating if the price is worth it, take it from me it is. The generator burned very little propane and when I stopped it long enough to check the oil I found it had burned hardly any oil. Do your self a favor and buy this generator. You will never regret it. Thank you Never Dark!

  2. My wife insisted on a $11,000 whole house generator 6 months ago. I thought she was crazy spending that much on something we would hardley ever need. I ate crow for a whole week. It was the best money we ever spent.

    Well Never Dark, here I am at home without power for the second time since we had our generator installed earlier this year. I am drinking my coffee, I am warm, and I am using my computer. I visited the website for our power company to see what the impact of this winter ice storm is. Looks like we may have a multi-day outage again!!! I am not accustomed to having running water and electricity in my country home during a power outage so it is surreal for me. I thought I would drop you a line to let you know how wonderful this is. Thank you for your service.

    Just wanted to let your management know what an outstanding employee you have — Joe. During our semi-annual maintenance check, he discovered a gas leak to our generator unit. He corrected one problem and advised us to contact our propane provider, who had initially done this installation, when he was unable to correct the second leak.
    He turned off the gas line and the generator for our protection until the propane company could fix THEIR problem.
    More importantly, he was genuinely concerned with our dilemma. Out in our area the next day to service other accounts, he took time out of his day to call us and inquire if the propane company had fixed the problem. After our propane provider arrived much later than advised to fix the leak, Joe returned to our home to turn on the gas line and make sure the generator was functional again, as another forecast of bad weather is anticipated for next week. We’re sure his detour to our home when it was nearly dark made for a very long work day for him. In our opinion, Never Dark and its customers are fortunate to have Joe. He truly epitomizes service beyond the call of duty. Thanks, Joe!

    The company came to my house on Feb. 7th and completed the work. They did an excellent job installing the generator. I spoke with the owner and he showed a true interest in making sure I was a satisfied customer. All the work was done as I was told when I originally signed the contract. I am truly happy with the work done and I think the guys that installed my generator did an outstanding job and took the time to make sure I knew what the generator is capable of, how to manually operate the generator, and everything else I need to know. I could not ask for a better experience from a company, I would not hesitate to recommend Never Dark to anyone I know that is looking for a generator installation.     Outstanding service that has been repeated over the years. Candy was attentive to my request and very accommodating in scheduling service. Rickey was wonderful and addressed all my concerns and gave me a quick course in troubleshooting issues.     Thank you many times over, Never Dark, for being such a caring and reliable company. I purchased my generator installed by your highly capable staff nearly three years ago. Each time that it is needed during a power outage, I am so thankful for having purchased it from your fine company.

    I want to thank and recognize Rickey Wilkerson (or is it Ricky) for answering my after-hours call close to midnight on August 18, 2015. He assured me that he would arrive at my home in about an hour to see evaluate and correct the problem. He determined that one or two internal parts inside the panel box were damaged. He restored my power for the night until he returned the next day bringing the new parts to repair the problem. Rickey is knowledgeable and efficient beyond description as he replaced the damaged parts quickly. Upon leaving, Rickey insisted that I call him any time that I have a question, problem, or concern. When I apologized for his coming to my home in the early morning hours, he assured me that was his job and he was glad to do it. Please know that if you purchase your generator from Never Dark, you will have made a fantastic decision on a company that delivers the very best! Thanks so much, Rickey!

    Over the years, my generator has proven to be very reliable, it self starts briefly every Monday around 7:00 AM as a preventive check; and it has kept our home operating efficiently each and every time throughout every power failure. The Maintenance Technicians from Never Dark who service my generator are always professional, competent and courteous. Many times, I have the opportunity to talk with them when they come, and I learn something new about my generator each time. They are very knowledgeable about the line of products, and I enjoy our conversations.

    Our family is always thankful that we don’t have to leave our home to seek shelter elsewhere when our community has power failures. It means a lot. Thank you Never Dark, for your service!

    Very happy with installation and look of the generator. Everyone was very polite and explained what they were doing every step of the way. Very communicative and kept everything on schedule. All staff were knowledgeable and extremely helpful throughout the entire process.

    I am very pleased with the service from Never Dark from first contact to final inspection. I was treated with courtesy and respect the entire time. The installation crew showed up when they said they would and and finished the job when they said they would. The unit is up and ready for the power outage season. Hopefully that’s a long time from now. However, if it goes out I will still be warm, the food in my freezer will still be frozen and I’ll still have running water. I have no qualms recommending Never Dark to anyone, including my family. Thank you.

    I have wanted a whole house backup generator system for years. But in the past the process of choosing, buying, and installing was daunting because so many vendors were involved: electrician, gas company, generator salesmen and installers. Daunting. Then, on a whim, my wife and I stopped in at the Never Dark office in Charlottesville. From that brief moment on through the whole process I felt comfortable. I felt important. I felt that here was a team that would handle all the details for me, so all I had to do was write the check. I was more than right in that feeling. They were wonderful. It started with the salesman who knew the system intimately, answered every concern, and got th ball rolling. Then came the installation staff: WOW. I can’t say enough good things about the team that put in our system. They coordinated with the propane supplier, and the building inspector. Seamlessly. Now I await the next outage with a smile knowing I will never be dark again.

    I am writing to express a humble note of appreciation for the outstanding customer service provided by you and your technicians David and Ricky. As you are aware, my wife Heather and I faced generator challenges on 1/30/19. Candy you jumped right into the action and gave my wife instructions over the phone on what to do with the generator until you could have a technician dispatched to our home to attempt the repair. Candy, my wife told me you were very pleasant on the phone and empathetic to our situation. Within 30 minutes or so, I received a call from David (technician) letting me know that he was on the way and would be at my home in an hour or so as he was coming from the Fredericksburg area. David showed up in a timely fashion based on where he was coming from and the traffic in that area during rush hour time.
    David is polite, professional, and represented the Never Dark generator company as a world-class organization. He immediately began to work on the generator problem and kept me informed of all that he was doing to fix the problem. After a couple of hours of tinkering with the unit and calling a senior level technician for friendly advice; David was able to get the unit back online. However; the main electrical panel box was still not working to David’s standards, and he expressed his regret to me and assured me he would be in the area the next day and would come by to take another look. Meanwhile, we had lights and heat, and that’s a blessing! I commend David for his honesty and vulnerability in expressing to me that he was perplexed by the situation and that he would prefer Ricky, a senior level technician take a closer look at the case as well.

    At approximately 4:00 AM 1/31/19 the generator starts humming again. What a wakeup call for the neighbors! I went outside to turn it off and proceeded to call the Never Dark after hours’ line, and to my surprise, a technician named Ricky answered the phone. I dialed the number knowing I would get a recorded message, boy, was I wrong. Well, I was not the most pleasant at 4 AM while explaining my problem to Ricky, yet he remained calm, offered me some generator advice to get me through the morning, and proceeded to let me know he understood my situation and that he will make me his first customer of the day.

    Ricky stayed in touch with me by text message giving me several ETA times which I appreciate as my wife and I are working class folks and would need to adjust our schedules accordingly to meet Ricky at our home. My wife met him at our house as I was busy at work.

    Ricky called me to let me know he had arrived and got right to work on the generator. Also, he called me periodically to give me updates, and to let me know what he planned to do to rectify our generator crisis. I like that kind of customer care. Consumers want to be and ought to be kept in the loop.

    Ricky found the problem, fixed it, and let me know that I would need to call an electrician to replace a part that had gone bad in the main electrical panel box. That’s understandable as my wife, and I have been in our home 25 years or so. He then took pictures of the part in question so that I could leverage my conversation with the electrician of choice to replace the piece. How cool and thoughtful is that! Ricky and David are Rock Star techs that are passionate about what they do and compassionate to the customer’s needs. For that, I am thankful.

    My experience with the Charlottesville, VA Never Dark group was the best experience I have ever had with any contractors working at my house! With their help we decided which system we were going to purchase and the rest was done professionally and efficiently including their handling of my propane installation and all permitting and inspections. The installation was done in two days……it was done neatly and the cleanup was perfect. I would recommend that anyone installing a whole house generator go to the Never Dark people for the most trouble free installation possible. Everyone in the organization that I dealt with from the office staff to the installers were a pleasure to work with. Thank you Never Dark!

    Everyone that we worked with from Never Dark Whole House Generators was very courteous and helpful. The installers were very knowledgeable about their work and were excellent in explaining how everything works to us as the homeowners, in language we could easily understand. We would definitely recommend them to others planning to install a whole house generator.

    We asked Never Dark to install a new home whole house generator to replace our old, failing model. The entire experience was superb from start to finish. This is a very professional outfit with procedures and people that are amazingly great. The crew that came out were first rate with the technical knowledge and experience to do this right, the first time, without delays or drama. They showed up, walked us through the plan, offered make-sense modifications and got down to work. We now have a 26 kw capability (largest air-cooled home unit) from Briggs & Stratton with a phenomenal guarantee and the dedicated support of our friends at Never Dark Charlottesville. And those considering any vendors should understand an important point–Never Dark does generators exclusively. They don’t try to be all things to all people, they do generators and they do it right! Highly recommended!
